We do not know what data exactly is compressed. But from his description, it seems that uses the NTFS high-compression to compress files and save disk space. Users longtime Windows will remember that Windows XP has a similar option "Compress old files" in Disk Cleanup that was removed in Vista. Compress the data can release a large amount of space on your hard drive. If you have a Windows 10 machine with a limited amount of disk space, this feature is a welcome addition. Anyway, this feature has not yet been documented.
