In two previous articles, we have examined how to add recent files and recent articles in quick places . The Quick Access folder is the new default location where the file browser opens in Windows 10. If you want to add recent files and / or recent items outside quick as separate items in the left pane (navigation pane), you can apply a simple tweak registy as described below.
This tweak will be suitable for those with Handicapped Quick access to be shown in the File Browser using Winaero Tweaker or manually using this guide: How to hide and remove Quick Access icon from the file Explorer in Windows 10.
Remember the How to add new favorites to the navigation pane of Windows Explorer 10? Today we will use exactly the same method to add recent files and recent articles in the navigation pane. They appear as separate items in the left area of the File Explorer.
To avoid modifying the registry, I was about ready to use the registry files that you can download and apply.
Download files from registry
In the ZIP file you downloaded, you will find some .reg files *: Add recent Folders.reg, Add Recent Items. reg and Defaults.reg restoration. Double click the file you want to make changes, then re-open the File Explorer window. There is a folder called "64-bit". If you use 64-bit Windows 10, then you must also merge the appropriate files from this subfolder
