The first time you connect to a network, Windows 10 automatically creates a network profile and stores it on your computer. It can be a wired or a wireless network. One day you may want to rename the Windows network profile 10 created for you. Here is how it can be done.
The network name is visible
- In the Network and Sharing Center in the Control Panel.
- In the Network menu on the desktop.
- In the application Settings:
Unfortunately there is no option to rename the network profile in the locations and the tools mentioned. To do so, you must apply a simple registry tweak. Using the Application Registry Editor, you can change the name of the network profile to whatever you want. Here is how it can be done.
How to rename the network profile in Windows 10
- open registry editor.
- Go to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE SOFTWARE Microsoft Windows NT CurrentVersion NetworkList Profiles

- Each network profile that exists on your PC, it is represented as a GUID subkey. Click the GUID subkey in the left pane, and look at the value of the ProfileName value chain on the right. Repeat this step until you find the network profile you want to rename.
